羅密歐與朱麗葉雪茄品牌的早期成功應直接歸功于羅德里格斯.費爾南德斯（Rodriguez Fernandez）的不懈努力。他在擔任哈瓦那的庫巴那斯(Cabanas)煙廠經(jīng)理時，被人們稱作“Pepin”。他因不滿煙廠被美利堅煙草公司（American Tobacco）接收，于1903年辭職，另起爐灶，利用自己的積蓄買下了一家小有名氣的煙廠。該廠自1875年起就一直生產(chǎn)一種叫作羅米歐與朱麗葉的品牌的雪茄，主要銷往古巴國內(nèi)市場但他的雄心壯志還不只如此，為激勵員工，他將公司30%的利潤分給各部門主管，自己周游世界進行促銷活動，短短兩年之內(nèi)，員工增至1400名，于是搬遷到了更大的工廠。著名的羅密歐-朱麗葉的Churchills尺寸采用管裝，制造精良，香味極好，但管裝雪茄有時較新鮮，結(jié)果是熟成程度不如盒裝雪茄好。貼有引人注目的金色標簽的Churchill尺寸（除了Cedros系列之外，其他尺寸都貼著紅色標簽）是非常經(jīng)典的風味中等濃郁至濃郁的雪茄。Corona尺寸，采用深褐色茄衣，結(jié)構(gòu)精良，但風味品質(zhì)不穩(wěn)定。Cedros de Luxe No.1(Lonsdale尺寸)顏色較深，表面光滑，中等濃郁，但喜歡該尺寸的人較少。Exhibicion No.4(Hermoso4)采用油滑茄衣，風味濃烈，適合于大餐之后享用，受到許多雪茄行家的青睞。Cedros de Luxe No.2則是Corona尺寸最好的一種，非常具有個性。Petit Julietas也是制造精良，風味濃郁的雪茄。
